14 Nov 2009Bookermusic artists Steel Magnolia win the widely acclaimed, national summer sensation CMT channel contest,“Can You Duet”. They signed with Machine Records (home of Taylor Swift) and broke into the Country Music Billboard top 40 with their smash “Keep On Lovin You” after recording this summer with legendary producers Dan Huff and Justin Neibank (Kieth Urban, Rascal Flatts). The ball started rolling when Booker’s production of Steel Magnolia in St. Louis led to a London showcase for Universal UK, and Josh Jones session with Booker made radio airplay on Nashville’s Lightning 100 FM.
Booker’s production with former Electra Record’s Bobby Skulls newest project, Queen City Rocker, is released. The EP features artwork and hidden cameo from Santino, the fave on Heidi Klum’s hit series, PROJECT RUNWAY, on Lifetime/BRAVO. Chuck Berry keyboardist Bob Lohr is featured on a track, and MC5 legend Wayne Kraemer produced a track on the record. Bobby Skulls has had his music previously featured on TV’s My Name is Earl, The Mentalist, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and in the film Pulse.
The Sham was nomination for best Indie band in St. Louis for 2009 in the Riverfront Times yearly “Best of” issue. This is not surprising after their ripping live show and release of their EP, The Only Builder, produced and mixed by Booker.
